A look at the recent decline in gold and the future prospects for platinum. Also, eBay’s Kijiji, what’s hot in the coin market, elusive circulating 2008 coins, dollar coin usage, a fun Friday coin video, the perfect error coin, and notable auctions.

Has the price of gold really fallen six days in a row? According to this article, the all time record is seven days in a row. Also some interesting perspectives on gold and the next potential bottom.

During the gold decline, platinum has been relatively stable around the $2,000 mark. Some see platinum moving much higher this year.

Have you heard of Kijiji? It’s an eBay owned classified ad website and it just reached 400,000 concurrent listings on its US site.

What’s hot and what’s not in the rare coin market.

Have you seen any 2008 cents in your pocket change? The mintage for this year is down drastically from prior years.

A few days ago Coin of the Day received his first 2008 coin in change after three and a half months, so maybe there is something to this.

Perhaps more people would circulated dollar coins if they just give them a try. This author received 19 golden dollars in change at the Post Office and found them more convenient to spend than paper dollars.

A fun coin related video for Friday. Check it out on YouTube.

An article on the 1955 Double Die Lincoln Cent from Numismaster, or as they call it “The Perfect Error.”

Have you checked out CoinSheetLinks? Its a numismatic directory of more than 3,000 coin and currency related websites.

And now for a few notable auctions. To start here’s a blast from the past, an 1809 Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS AU50.

Like colorfully toned coins? Here’s a Jefferson Nickel in electric blue.

And one more time, let’s take a look at those 2008-W Silver Eagles Reverse of 2007, which continue to sell like very expensive hotcakes.

That wraps up this week. Have a great weekend!
