Gold and platinum continue their run, read the 2008 Platinum Report by Johnson Matthey. Also, an off beat gold story, US paper money and the blind, another commemorative coin proposal, changes to eBay’s feedback system, suspensions and sell outs for the US Mint’s platinum eagles, and notable auctions. Gold reached a one month high today, rising above $925 per ounce.

In some off-beat gold news, the buyer of a Sarasota residence brought $400,000 worth of Gold Krugerands to the closing.

According to a US appeals court, US paper money discriminates against the blind. Will we soon see bills of different sizes, raised markings, or other features?

The US Mint has selected Andrew D. Brunhart as its new Deputy Director.

Another commemorative coin proposal is in the pipeline. This one would create a commemorative coin for the Star Spangled Banner and War of 1812.

EBay has rolled out more changes to its feedback system, including the controversial decision to remove the ability for sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers.

The rising price of platinum has caused a suspension for one of the US Mint’s 2008 Platinum Eagle ordering options, and a sell out for the remaining 2007 Platinum Eagles.

And now for some notable auctions. A few interesting error coins to start things off. Here is a 1989 Double Denomination Six Cent Coin. Also a proof error coin, 1973-S Roosevelt Dime Off Center and Double Struck.

Here’s a fun way to buy silver. 2,000 Kennedy Halves dated between 1965 and 1969. These coins are 40% silver.
