We’re here to bring you a daily update of coin collecting news from around the web! First, some recent stories on gold. Also, a new offering from the US Mint, a new initiative from PCGS, European coin market, gold coins of the Canadian Mint, the dollar bill vs. dollar coin debate continues, and notable auctions. Gold and other precious metals have been retreating following dollar strength, a drop in oil, and a firmer stock market.
Even though this article is titled “Firm travels to buy gold and jewelry from the affluent,” the sellers interviewed mention buying a tank of gas or paying bills.
A second article urging caution when selling gold, referring to firms that enter town and operate out of temporary locations. Quote from the story: “I just can’t believe that people do business there. I mean you wouldn’t see your doctor or your lawyer in a hotel room…”
What’s better than prosperity? How about “Double Prosperity.” The US Mint has announced the release of the second product in the United States Celebration series.
