By admin | August 6, 2008
Welcome back to Coin Update!
It seems to be one of those slow late summer news days, but there are still a few interesting coin collecting stories out there. First, gold and platinum try to stage a rebound after weeks of declines. Also, economic update, detecting coin cleaning, numismatic t-shirts, Cuban Crocodile Coins, and notable auctions. On to the links…
Gold has finally caught a bid on bargain hunting. Platinum, which has been hammered in recent weeks, also may be finding some support.
Numismaster provides another grim economic update.
Check out this useful guide from About.com: Coins on how to tell if a coin has been cleaned.
Do you know a coin collector with a birthday coming up? Maybe they would get a kick out of receiving a numismatically inspired t-shirt.
CoinNews.net provides the highlights from Heritage’s Baltimore ANA Signature and Platinum Night Auctions.
Have you ever seen a crocodile on a coin? Take a look at some of the unique animals included on Cuban coins.
And now for some notable auctions. Here’s a 1973 Eisenhower Dollar with some spectacular toning.
Here’s a unique auction, supposedly from an estate. It’s a BU Roll Collection of Lincoln Cents from 1948 to 1958.
And last, a beautiful 1915-S Saint Gaudens Double Eagle NGC MS 65.
See you all tomorrow!
