    It’s another Friday round up of coin collecting news from around the web! First, we bring you some reasons to avoid gold with a twist.     Here’s a look at the sales figures so far for the 2008 Fractional Buffalo Gold Coins. The numbers are pretty solid, but are sales coming at the expense of the traditional American Eagle Fractional Coins?

    There were two young coin collectors in the news. The first is an eight year old boy who won an 1808 Half Dollar Giveaway Competition. His name was drawn from a group of entrants who answered six difficult questions correctly.

    Also, a sixteen year old junior numismatist was named winner of the Cuban Numismatic Association’s Essay Contest for Young Numismatists. His essay was titled “What Young Numismatists Enjoy.”

    The ANA will hold the 2011 World’s Fair of Money in Chicago.

    The Hispanic Society of America intends to sell the 38,000 coin Huntington Collection.

    Here’s a beautiful example of a Full Bell Lines Franklin Half. It’s one of the relatively more difficult dates to find as such.

    And last, a very unique State Quarter Error. It’s a 1999 Connecticut Quarter off Center on 60% Bow Tie Scrap.
