Gold falls for the ninth day in a row. Gold is yet to post a gain for a single day in September.

Numismaster has some significant events of recent history that have impacted the price of gold. The article also includes a chart of the closing gold, platinum, and palladium prices for all of 2008.

New coin legislation has been introduced for Five-Star Generals Commemorative Coins.

The 2008 Platinum Eagles are still under sales suspension at the US Mint. This includes the collectible 2008-W Uncirculated coins and Proof coins. Will they ever come back? If not, they will end up with some extremely low mintages.

Changes are coming for the coins of Fiji. The lowest denomination 1 and 2 cent coins are being removed from circulation. The remaining coins will shrink. Smaller and lighter 5, 10, 20, 50, and $1 coins will replace the current versions.

And now for some notable auctions. You can't get them from the Mint, but here are the 2008-W Uncirculated and Proof Platinum Eagles available on eBay. Don't expect any bargains, most carry high BIN prices.
