October 7, 2008: US Mint Halts Some Gold & Platinum Eagles, Restoring Liberty on Coins

Welcome to another edition of Coin Update!
We’re back for another round up of coin collecting news. First, the US Mint halts production of some gold and platinum bullion coins. Also, the CCAC recommends that Liberty be restored on circulating coinage, economic turmoil and coins, American Gold Buffalo coins, and notable auctions. On to the links…
Gold continues to rise on “safe haven buying.”
Meanwhile, the US Mint halts Gold & Platinum Eagle Production for some bullion coins citing unprecented demand. They will concentrate on producing bullion one ounce Gold and Silver Eagles. This will likely have impacts on collector versions of the bullion coins.
