We’re back to bring you another daily round up of coin collecting news! First, looking at the price of gold from another measure. Also, examining “unprecedented demand” for Gold Eagles, the end draws closer for the 50 State Quarters Program, a timely coin market report, and notable auctions. On to the links…
The real price of gold is soaring. That is, if you measure how much an ounce of gold will buy. According to the article, gold will buy a bigger basket of commodities now than at any other point in recent history.
The US Mint has continually stated that this year’s Silver and Gold Eagle suspensions and shortages were due to “unprecedented demand.” Mint News Blog takes a look at the so-called “unprecedented demand.”
Also in response to recent actions of the US Mint, Susan Headley asks “Is the US Mint Running Out of Coins?”
Wow, it’s been 50 States already! Dave Harper reflects as the 10 year State Quarter program draws to a close.
The Senator behind the amendment which relocated the motto “In God We Trust” to the obverse of the Presidential Dollar provides his comments following the newly released designs.
How is the coin market faring amidst the recent economic turmoil. Here’s the Doug Winter Market Report. One particularly useful piece of advice, “Whatever you do, don’t be a panic seller.”

And now for some notable auctions. First, a 2006 Colorado State Quarter Error, missing clad layer. I think the Colorado design looks particularly nice in copper.
