In an odd sign of the times, the LA Times reports that the sale of safes is booming. A Certified Public Accountant interviewed for the article offered this balanced evaluation of the phenomenon: "It's just stupid."

CoinWorld examines the many different ways to buy silver bullion.

USA Today covers the US Mint's PR push for the dollar coin. Apparently this includes a TV commercial featuring the Statue of Liberty buying a hot dog. Anyone seen it? I checked YouTube and could only pull up this vintage 2000 commercial featuring George Washington clubbing and riding a bicycle.

We've all heard that the coin market is holding up well amidst the financial downturn, but once you start digging into different segments things become more interesting. Coin Collector's Blog has some insightful analysis.

The Lincoln Cent Collection from the Jack Lee estate will be offered for auction this December by Heritage.  The set boasts some incredible coins such as a 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent PCGS MS67RD. Here is the full listing at the PCGS Registry.

The interesting puzzle of "design extension."

  1. Thanks for linking to the site. As you mentioned it’s just coming together. Any input / suggestions / feedback is more than welcome and has the very high probability of being implemented.

    It’s easier to add concepts now than it will be once the site becomes more established.
