We’re back with another daily round up of coin collecting news! Some interesting reactions to yesterday’s news about the US Mint’s surprising product eliminations. Also Veteran’s Day numismatically, ANA Presidential race, Collectors Universe and Odyssey Marine Exploration financial results, astronomy coins, and notable auctions. On to the links…

Gold, silver, and platinum all closed lower today, in step with declining stock markets. From MarketWatch: “The trade now, if you believe the market is due to fall further, is surprisingly short gold.”

One presidential race ends and another begins. It’s the race for ANA President! Dave Harper provides the details.

Collectors Universe, the parent company of PCGS, reports their quarterly results.  The company lost $1.3 million as revenues declined by 10%, led by a 17% decline in coin revenues.

In other news, CoinLink reports on PCGS expansion in the China market.

Odyssey Marine Exploration also reported results, with a loss of $6.5 million for the quarter.

An unusual and unique item. This “six cent coin” was struck with the obverse of an 1859 Indian Head Cent and reverse of an 1857 Half Dime.

The Royal Australian Mint launches new astronomy themed commemorative coins. Did you know that next year will be the International Year of Astronomy?

And now for some notable auctions. First, this year’s Bald Eagle Silver Dollar Commemorative in a Dutch auction with numerous NGC MS 70 coins available at a fixed price.
