Sorry for the slight time off. My wife and I went on a brief vacation to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary. Now it's time for another round up of coin collecting news! First, the upcoming Ultra High Relief Gold Double Eagle. Also, a new pricing method for the US Mint is coming in 2009, Martin Van Buren's Liberty coins released, British Royal Mint possibly for sale, change carrying habits, US Coin Collecting group medal, and notable auctions. The New York Times covers the upcoming release of the Ultra High Relief Gold Double Eagle.

The US Mint has responded to collectors concerns about pricing. Apparently, there is a new pricing method in the works for 2009 that will be more responsive to precious metals fluctuations.

Only the one ounce 2008-W Uncirculated Platinum Eagle remains on sale at the US Mint. All of the other 2008 "W" Unc Plats are no longer available.

One last bit of news on the US Mint, the Martin Van Buren's Liberty First Spouse Gold Coin went on sale November 25th.

Amidst the global financial crisis, a possible sale of the British Royal Mint is reportedly being explored.

NGC certifies more than 300 coins including many ancient Greek and Roman rarities for the upcoming 20th anniversary auction to be held by Numismatica Genevensis SA.
