I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! Now it's time for another round up of coin collecting news.  To start, a few articles examining gold and silver, which are once again on the upswing. Also, reflecting on the 1909 Lincoln Cent as 2009 approaches, National Parks Quarters, best and worst of 2008, touring the NY Federal Reserve, Buffalo Nickels, and notable auctions.

As you might have noticed, this update will debut a new design for Coin Update. I hope everyone likes it!

An article following the correlation between this year's financial woes and spikes in the price of gold. It provides some color and statistics on the demand for physical gold.

For the technically inclined, charts for gold and silver are both looking favorable. Gold has broken out of its down trending channel and silver bounced off a key support level.

And last, one of the 2000-P Goodacre Presentation Dollars graded PCGS MS66. This is one of hte 5,000 coins given to designed Glenna Goodacre for designing the obverse of the coin.
