Here’s another fresh round up of coin collecting news from around the internet! First, another mainstream story on gold. Also, the US Mint announces pricing for the 2009 Lincoln Cent Roll Sets, information on the 2009 collectible Silver Eagle coins, a new look for Coin World, Barbie Commemorative coins, coin related world record, a novel idea for coin video content, and notable auctions. Newsweek runs a story on the increased interest in gold investing. The reporter accompanied a businessman who purchased a one hundred ounce gold bar.

The US Mint announces the pricing for the Lincoln Cent Birthplace Two Roll Set. At $8.95 for $1.00 face value worth of coins, the premium is a bit steep.

Finally, information regarding the availability of the 2009 Proof Silver Eagles.

Reports from a local coin show which is experiencing record attendance. Quote from the story: “I think what it boils down to is people lose faith in stock, real estate (etc.) … and they want something tangible.”

The Perth Mint will release a one ounce silver proof Barbie Commemorative Coin. The coin marks the 50th anniversary of the popular collectible toy.

There’s a new world record for the largest flag made out of coins. The Korean flag contains 110,000 10-won coins.

And now for some notable auctions. First, a barrage of 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coins graded PCGS MS 70 have hit eBay.  At the time of writing this post, there was only one MS 69.
