Tomorrow the second redesigned 2009 Lincoln Cent will be launched in Lincoln City, Indiana. There will be a coin exchange after the ceremony and at two sites in Washington, DC. The two roll set will also go on sale at the US Mint.
Walter Breen’s Complete Encylopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins has been taken offline. Here’s some background on the controversy that resulted in the free copy of the book being pulled.
A bill has been introduced which would authorize a Mother’s Day Centennial Commemorative Coin for 2014. Similar bills had been introduced last year, but they were never passed.
If you sell on eBay, make note of this announcement. The first five listings each month will be free. Sounds good, but if you read the fine print, these listings will have no insertion fees, but will be subject to a different final value fee. If you run some numbers, the “free” listings end up costing sellers more in fees in some situations.
Collectors Universe, the parent company of PCGS reported their Third Quarter Results. Service revenues dropped 12% from the year ago period. Income from continuing operations was higher due to cost cutting and efficiency initiatives.
NGC is offering a new service to provide a special certification for gold coins placed into Individual Retirement Accounts.
