Here’s another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, the design is unveiled for next year’s commemorative coin to honor disabled American veterans. Over the weekend, the US Mint unveiled the designs for next year’s Disabled American Veterans Silver Dollar.

Coin Values Online examines the issue of the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle. An interesting bit of information included: the US Mint sold 2,487 coins at the ANA show.

A closer look at the Dan Holmes Collection of Large Cents, the most complete set of Early date US Large Cents in history.

This weekend was the Carson City Mint Coin Show. Coin Press No. 1 was used to make medallions for Lincoln’s Bicentennial. Three unique error coins minted in Carson City were on display.

From Doug Winter, an interesting examination of a situation where previous auction records were misleading for determining what to bid for an identically graded coin.

An interview with Ben Wengel, who recently completed a six week internship at NGC. The high school senior has discovered 24 VAMs and can attribute hundreds by memory. During the internship, he looked at “tens of thousands of dollars” and saw some of the great rarities.

Two Jamaican coins will get new shapes. The heptagonal (7 sided) one dollar coins and scalloped shaped ten dollar coins will both become round.

Th National Bank of Kazakhstan issues their latest commemorative coin in their Space series. I’ve said it before, but I really love the common obverse design which represents mankind’s unity with the universe.

First, a “super investor or wholesale lot” of 100 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coins graded PCGS or NGC MS70. That’s right one hundred of them!

Low mintage 1877 Indian Head Penny Proof Coin. Only 900 were minted.

A nice group of Carson City Morgan Dollars. Five different dates from 1880 to 1885 with four of the coins graded PCGS MS66.
