We're back to bring you another round up of coin collecting news to bring you into the weekend. First, the US Mint releases the designs for commemorative coin program for 2010 for the Boy Scouts of America centennial. Also, 2009 Gold Eagle fractional coins, 2010 US Mint schedule, the upcoming FUN convention, Saint Gaudens Double Eagles, counterfeit coin detection, PNG scholarship announcement, and notable auctions. The US Mint has released the final designs for the upcoming 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar. The obverse features a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and female Venturer.

The 1/10 ounce fractional 2009 Gold Eagle bullion coins have officially sold out. The US Mint sold 270,000 of the coins. The 1/2 ounce and 1/4 ounce fractionals remain available for sale.

Separately, a preliminary product schedule for 2010 coins has been posted by the US Mint. The 2010 Proof Platinum Eagle is included with a release date in August. The collectible 2010 Gold Eagle, Silver Eagle, and 2010 Gold Buffalo products are not included.

Dave Harper talks about the upcoming FUN convention that will kick off the new year for the hobby in January.

On Heritage's Platinum Night event at the FUN convention, a small group of Saint Gaudens Double Eagles collected by Jay Brahin go up for auction. These coins represent condition rarities and are high end for their respective grades.

Another Salvation Army Kettle story. Two potentially rare coins from an anonymous donor are suspected to be counterfeit coins. Check out the story for a photo of the coins in question.

From NGC, here's a close up look at a counterfeit 1893-S Morgan Dollar. A common date has been altered to make it appear to be a rare coin.

Last, the 1997 Impressions of Liberty Set. The US Mint put out this set featuring the Gold, Silver, and Platinum Eagle for the inaugural year of the platinum coin.
