We’re back with one more round up of coin collecting news and articles to finish up the week! First, the United States Mint has issued their 2009 Annual Report recapping the year and providing financial results. Also, the 2010 Native American Dollar launch ceremony, Theodore Roosevelt vs. George Washington, Stack’s family library, collecting coins from circulation, famous Romans on ancient coins, rarest early Quarter Eagles, and notable auctions. The United States Mint 2009 Annual Report has been released. On Mint News Blog, there are some brief highlights of the report that might be of particular interest to collectors.

On Monday, January 25, 2010, the US Mint will host the launch ceremony for the 2010 Native American Dollar in New York City. The Mint offered the numismatic rolls for sale today ahead of the ceremony.

A brief article about the Citizen’s Coinage Advisory Committee’s recommendation to place Theodore Roosevelt on the obverse of America the Beautiful Quarters, rather than George Washington. The CCAC backed down from their recommendation due to a lack of support in Congress.

The Stack’s family numismatic library realized $1,003,950 at auction. Estimates for the 500 lots had been $540,000. Every lot found a buyer.
