From Coin Update News, here are images of the candidate designs for the collectible version of the 2010 American Platinum Eagle along with the recommendations of the CFA and CCAC.

The 2010 Gold Buffalo bullion coins will be available for ordering on April 29, 2010 by the US Mint’s authorized purchasers.

While still not officially sold out, the uncirculated version of the 2010 Boy Scouts Silver Dollar has entered waiting list status.

How is the coin market responding to PCGS’s plus graded coins?  With a “very slight premium” according to this report from Steve Roach.

The Commission of Fine Arts has reviewed the designs for the 2011 Native American Dollar and selected an image depicting the passing of a peace pipe to represent the theme Diplomacy: Treaties with Tribal Nations.

The Royal Canadian Mint has announced a record profit achieved for the year 2009, driven by the strong global demand for gold and silver bullion. The RCM earned $68.6 million on nearly $2 billion in revenue.

In separate news, the Royal Canadian Mint issued statements assuring the public that certain two dollar coins or “toonies” were not counterfeit. This followed confusion caused by a recent media report.

The latest post from the Heritage Blog tells about some of the extra responsibilities of a numismatic cataloger, along with some background on Indian Half Eagles.

A list of fourteen reasons why you should invest in historically significant quality coins as part of an overall investment plan.

And now for some notable auctions. More of the elusive recent issue coins seem to be find their way into the channels of circulation. A batch of auctions for 2009-D Jefferson Nickels are now on eBay. These are the first 2009-D circulation strike nickels that I have seen available.

Next, the 2008 W American Gold Eagle 4 Coin Proof Set in original US Mint packaging. Although these coins have a higher mintage than the 2008 Proof Gold Buffalo Coins, they don’t seem to be offered nearly as often.

Last, a 1977 Lincoln Cent struck on a clad dime planchet. The coin is authenticated and graded MS65 by PCGS.

That’s it for this update. See you next time!

How about uncirculated Platinum Eagle Design? Do they carry same design as Proof Platinum Eagle in 2010?

  2. admin says:

The design for “To Establish Justice” will only be used on the collector versions of the 2010 Platinum Eagle. The US Mint only plans one collector version- the one ounce proof.

If bullion versions of the 2010 Platinum Eagle are issued, then they will use Thomas D. Rodger’s design with a Bald Eagle soaring with the rising sun in the background.
