We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, the US Mint has announced release date and the start of production for two delayed gold coin offerings. Also, the WSJ on coin composition changes, minimizing the risk of coin thefts, Collector’s Universe operating results, tweets from the CCAC meeting, news from the CPAC hearing, and notable auctions. In the past month, the US Mint has caught up with their gold coin offerings. The 2010 Gold Buffalo bullion coins, 2010 Gold Buffalo proof coins, and fractional Gold Eagle bullion coins either have been released or will be released soon. Next up, Proof Gold Eagles?
The Wall Street Journal on President Obama’s proposal to make changes to our coin compositions. According to the article, about 10 special interest groups are monitoring the coinage proposal. (The article doesn’t mention it, but I guess they are referring back to the part of the proposed 2011 Budget released in February.)

With many reports of coin thefts in recent news, PCGS has an article with tips to minimize the risk of coin thefts and improve the chances of recovery.
The so-called “Stupid Investment of the Week” from Marketwatch. A company is selling 12-coin rolls of Presidential Dollars for $34.95 plus shipping.
Collectors Universe, the parent company of PCGS, has reported record third quarter operating income. A 16% increase in net service revenues was driven by a 28% increase in coin service revenues.

Commemorative coins and stamps will be issued for the royal wedding in Sweden. The coins will include a 300 kronor silver coin and 4000 kronor gold coin.
The Washington Post covers the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild’s challenge to federal regulations on bringing certain ancient coins into the country and the recent Cultural Property Advisory Committee hearing on the agreement with Italy.

And now for some notable auctions. First, an auction for ALL the 1997-2008 Proof American Platinum Eagles graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo. Each year includes the one ounce, one-half ounce, one-quarter ounce, and one-tenth ounce proof coins.
Next, an interesting error coin lot that includes three Washington Quarters with Triple Clips. All coins are housed in sequentially numbered PCGS holders.
Last, a lot of US Mint wrapped rolls with a face value of $345 that includes 17 rolls of State Quarters, 6 rolls of Presidential Dollars, and 1 roll of Sacagawea Dollars. At the time of this post, bidding is just under face value.
