First, some updates to the US Mint’s product schedule, which include upcoming release dates and sales end dates. Mint News Blog has posts on upcoming changes for the US Mint’s product line up. First, here are the products that will go on sale in June and July. Second, here are products that will have sales discontinued on June 15 or June 30.
After breaking the $1,200 barrier last week, gold has now reached a new all time high. According to the linked article, the Austrian Mint has sold more gold in the past two weeks than the entire first quarter.

The transcript from the Collector’s Universe third quarter earnings conference call, which reveals some interesting statistics on their coin grading and authentication service PCGS. Modern coin submissions increased 53% for the quarter. The coin business represented 65% of the company’s overall revenues for the fiscal year to date.

The prices for some classic gold commemorative coins have fallen nearly 50% since April 2007, but the market seems to be showing some life in the past few weeks.
The “King of South African Coins” sold for a record multi-million rand price. Following the purchase, the coin was sent to NGC for certification. NGC has some background and images of the unique and historic coin.
And now for some notable auctions. One of my favorite coins of the First Spouse series, the uncirculated version of the 2008-W Andrew Jackson’s Liberty $10 Gold Coin. This example is graded NGC MS 70.
Next, the 1911 Matte Proof Lincoln Cent graded PCGS PR65RB.
Last, an error coin with some great visual appeal. It’s a 1965 Lincoln Cent Saddle Triple Struck with two dates showing. The coin is graded PCGS MS64RD.
