We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, the upcoming release of the Franklin Pierce Presidential Dollar and related offerings and events. Also, the latest US Mint sales report, a poll on the proposed Regan $50 bill, NGC certifies their 20 millionth coin, new PCGS website, mint marks, San Francisco Mint, new coin rarities column, Fortune’s gold bust, and notable auctions. Tomorrow the Franklin Pierce Presidential Dollar Rolls will go on sale at the US Mint. This will also mark the circulation release date and launch ceremony date, although some coins have apparently been released early.
The latest weekly sales report for US Mint products shows a lukewarm start for the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set. Meanwhile, sales levels for other products rebounded.
According to a Marist College poll, 79% of people opposed the recent proposal to place a likeness of Ronald Reagan on the $50 bill. Only 12% of those polled supported the idea.
Congrats to NGC! The company has certified their 20 millionth coin. They are the first coin grading company to reach this milestone.
Meanwhile, PCGS announced the launch of a new website at www.PCGSGlobal.com. The new site will help accomodate their international presence.
