We’re back, after a short break, with another round up of coin collecting news from around the internet! First, the latest US Mint sales report shows increases for gold products, likely purchased ahead of a recent price increase. Also, the final release for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program for this year, opportunities in modern commemorative coins, WSJ on the Franklin Mint, Perth Mint live bullion pricing, Stack’s New York International Sale, rare gold coin series performance, 2011 COTY images, and notable auctions. The latest US Mint sales report shows an increase for nearly all gold numismatic products. Sales of the 2010 Proof Gold Buffalo are approaching the 40,000 level.

On Monday, the Mount Hood National Forest Quarter bags and rolls went on sale at the US Mint. Compared to the prior State Quarter series, these coins are much more difficult to locate through circulation channels.

David L. Ganz describes what coins  he believes are the most likely areas of profit in the coming years, highlighted by lower mintage uncirculated modern commemorative coins.

Next, a visually dramatic Double Struck 1999 Lincoln Cent. The second strike is 180 degrees rotated and 40% off center.

Last, the classic key date 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent graded PCGS MS66RD. The seller also has auctions for the coin graded MS64RD and MS65RD.
