We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news from around the internet! First, the United States Mint has issued their 2010 annual report with details of their financial results for the fiscal year. The United States Mint has just released their annual report for the 2010 fiscal year. Here is a link to access the full report on the US Mint’s website, and here is the first part of the Coin Update News coverage of the results.
Full year US Mint circulating coin production figures are available. Overall production was up 79.6% from the prior year, with the largest increases by denomination for nickels and dimes.
An examination of PCGS “low ball coins.” A heavily circulated coin graded PO1 can sell for a higher price than an uncirculated example graded MS63.

The cost for the US Mint to make the cent and nickel has risen to 1.79 cents and 9.22 cents for the latest fiscal year.
And now for some notable auctions. First, the 1909-S Lincoln Cent graded PCGS MS66RD. This is without “V.D.B.” for a change.
To go with one of today’s articles, here is the 1997-W Jackie Robinson $5 Gold Coin PCGS MS69. This is the uncirculated version of the coin with a final mintage of 5,174.
Last, an 1857-S Liberty Double Eagle from the S.S. Central America. It is in one of the PCGS gold holders and graded MS64.
