Later this week, the US Mint will release the 2010 Proof Platinum Eagle, which depicts the theme “To Establish Justice.” With a higher price and maximum mintage, do the coins have a chance of selling out?
Here’s a look at the latest US Mint sales report. The pace of sales for recently released 2010 Proof Set and 2010 Mint Set have already slowed considerably.
The 1794 Silver Dollar included in Bowers and Merena’s Boston Rarities auction sold for $1.2 million.
Seven new artists have been selected to participate in the United States Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program. These artists will create and submit design candidates for U.S. coins and medals.

Some preliminary details on the upcoming America the Beautiful 5 oz. Silver Coins. Production across the five designs for 2010 will beĀ maximum of 500,000 pieces.
And now for some notable auctions. First, the 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle graded PCGS PR70DCAM. Only two examples of this popular key date have received the top grade from PCGS.
Next, a complete collection of PCGS Mint State Peace Dollars.
Last, the 2010 Lincoln “Shield” Cent graded PCGS MS66RD. Apparently, the newly design cents are tough to find in high grades. Out of more than one thousand coins submitted, so far PCGS has graded five examples MS66RD with none finer.
