Before the long holiday weekend, here’s a fresh round up of coin collecting news! First, the expected platinum deficit shrinks. Also, gold krugerrands in demand, newly proposed Civil Rights Quarters, 2008 Proof Silver Eagles, 1969-S Double Die Cent, a rare error coin goes to auction, and notable auctions. On to the links…
Earlier this year, the platinum market was expected to be at a deficit of 600,000 ounces for the year. Revised estimates slash the deficit figure to 90,000 ounces.

And now for some notable auctions. First, an original shotgun style roll of 1958 Franklin Halves. The same seller has a number of other shotgun rolls from the 1950′s and 60′s.
Next, two interesting error coins. A 1967 Washington Quarter struck on a dime planchet and a 1980-P Jefferson Nickel struck on a cent planchet.
