We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the web! First, the United States Mint has revealed what looks like the majority of their numismatic product schedule for the coming year. Also, US Mint sales report, 2010 Proof Silver Eagle sold out, WSJ on silver with a response from Patrick Heller, Canadian polymer notes, 1933 coins, the Franklin Mint, leading coin topics of the year, and notable auctions. The United States Mint has announced their product schedule for numismatic products to be released during 2011. On-sale dates are already listed for the 2011 Proof Silver Eagle and 2011 Proof Gold Eagles!
The latest US Mint numismatic sales report is available, which includes the sell out of the one-half ounce individual 2010 Proof Gold Eagle.
Shortly after posting the report, the 2010 Proof Silver Eagle sold out.
The Wall Street Journal ran a front page story entitled “Price of Silver Soaring“, which spent much of the article talking down silver’s potential due to increasing supply.

Canada plans to issue ploymer, or plastic based, currency in late 2011. Many of the details of the new notes are still secret.
A single collector holds over 33,000 1933-dated cents and half dollars, or 0.14 percent of the total coins minted for circulation that year.
The current owner of the Franklin Mint is suing the former owners, claiming that they were tricked into buying the business.
The Westin St. Francis hotel keeps up the unusual practice of washing all of the hotel’s coins. The coin washer had an usual comment about the Westward Journey nickels: “They look counterfeit to me. And it took me forever to get over it when they changed the backs of quarters to honor the states.”

And now for some notable auctions. First, the 2000-W Proof Gold Eagle 4 Coin Set, with all coins graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo in a multi-coin holder.
Next, a 1999-2008 State Quarter BU Roll Set, including one roll for each state from the Philadelphia Mint.
The 1921 Missouri Centennial Half Dollar was minted in two varieties. Here are two separate auctions for the “2X4″ variety and the plain version, both are graded PCGS MS64.
