Three rarities will highlight Bowers and Merena’s sale at the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo in Baltimore on March 2-6. The rarities includes a 1901-S Barber Quarter graded PCGS MS68, a branch mint proof 1879-O Morgan Dollar, and a 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 Round graded PCGS MS66.
An illustrated explanation of the three types of luster found on US gold coins.
And now for some notable auctions. First, an interesting product offering by the US Mint in 2003. It’s called the Legacies of Freedom Set and contains one American Silver Eagle and one Britannia Silver 2£ coin from the UK.
Next, the 1997-W Platinum Eagle 4 Coin Proof Set in original packaging. This was the first year of issue for the American Platinum Eagle.
Last, an NGC multi-coin slab highlighting the different Wisconsin Quarter Extra Leaf Varieties. The three MS66 graded coins include one regular version, one “extra leaf high”, and one “extra leaf low.”
That wraps up another week. Have a pleasant weekend!
