June 15, 2010: 2009 Lincoln Cent Products, Proof Gold and Silver Eagles, Gold Price Prediction

We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news and articles from around the internet! First, the US Mint will conclude sales for 2009 annual sets and 2009 Lincoln Cent roll sets– which products present the best values? Also proof silver eagle prices, Proof 1867 Shield Nickel with Rays, the Phrygian Cap, coin collecting movie, ancient coins used in education, curator sought for the National Numismatic Collection, gold price predication, and notable auctions. Later today, the United States Mint will conclude sales for products containing 2009 Lincoln Cents. This will include the 2009 Proof Set, 2009 Silver Proof Set, 2009 Mint Set, and remaining 2009 Lincoln Cent Two Roll Sets. Mint News Blog provides a summary and recommendations on which products might perform the best in the future.

The prices for Proof Gold and Silver Eagles have rebounded from the low levels reached in January, although premiums have declined or evaporated for some of the better date coins.

One of the highlights of Heritage’s Summer FUN auction will be a Proof 1867 Shield Nickel with Rays.

Patrick A. Heller predicts that gold and silver will experience price spikes by the end of July.

And now for some notable auctions. The low mintage 1921 Walking Liberty Half Dollar graded PCGS MS64 with CAC verification.

The 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle PCGS PR69DCAM. This is one of the proof silver eagles that has seen it’s premium decline, as mentioned  in one of today’s articles.

Another 1909-S V.D.B. Lincoln Cent for sale, this one graded NGC MS 66 RD. The same seller has now offered numerous examples of the classic key date.
