The preliminary production figures for the Hot Springs National Park Quarter have been provided by the United States Mint. At only 59.6 million, the total marks the lowest level in many decades, but will it lead to higher values?

Gold demand experienced a drop of 25% for the first quarter of 2010 compared to the year ago levels. This was due to a dramatic decline in demand from ETF’s. However, the second quarter of the year is turning out to be much different.
Canadian Senators will meet today to discuss the fate of the penny, which might face elimination. According to the article, it may cost anywhere from 1.5 cents to 4 cents to produce and distribute each penny.

And now for some notable auctions. First, a vibrant rainbow toned 1883-CC GSA Morgan Dollar from the Bryan Sonnier Collection.
Next, a rainbow toned Peace Dollar that has attracted 30 bids and counting. Rainbow toning is much less frequently encountered for Peace Dollars compared to Morgan Dollars.
Last, the 2006-W Uncirculated $100 Platinum Eagle in top grade PCGS MS70.
