We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news from around the internet! First, the design and initial ordering details for the 2009 Proof Platinum Eagle have been announced by the United States Mint. The United States Mint has unveiled the design for the 2009 Proof Platinum Eagle and details of the December 3 release. The reverse design, which is intended to represent the principle “To Form a More Perfect Union” with a diversity theme, is not without controversy. In a final gold related story, the Financial Times is reporting that the Royal British Mint quadrupled their output of gold coins in the latest quarter. The article mentions that many of the coins were shipped to the US market where there is a shortage of bullion coins.
Hertitage Auctions will be offering a 1927-D Saint Gaudens Double Eagle graded PCGS MS66 in their upcoming January 2010 FUN Auction. The coin is expected to sell for more than one million dollars.

And now for some notable auctions. First, one of the more difficult First Spouse Coins to track down- the 2008 Jackson’s Liberty $10 Gold NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo.
Next, an auction that includes four separate 1995-1996 Olympic Gold and Silver Proof Sets. There are a total of 12 silver proof coins and 4 gold coins included.
Last, a nice collection of $10 American Gold Eagles. The collection includes all coins from 1992 to 2006 graded PCGS MS69.
