We’re back with another round up of coin collecting news and articles to wrap up the week! First, the CCAC reviews the design candidates for the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters. Also, upcoming coin launch ceremonies, 2011 Mint Sets, the latest Coingrader Capsule, John Lennon coins from the British Royal Mint, new 1878 Morgan Dollar die variety, $100 bill slide show, storing and protecting your collection, Coinfest, Whitman Baltimore Expo, and notable auctions. Earlier this week, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee reviewed design candidates for the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters. View the article for images of the designs as well as the CCAC’s recommendations.

And now for some notable auctions. First, the 2008-W Proof $50 Gold Eagle graded PCGS PR69DCAM. This year’s one ounce Gold Eagle proof already has combined sales in excess of the final mintage for the 2008-dated coin.

A 1966 Washington Quarter struck on a clad dime planchet. The mint error is authenticated by PCGS and graded MS65.

Last, the 1997 Botanic Gardens Coin and Currency Set, which was limited to 25,000 and contained the 1997 matte proof Jefferson Nickels. It would be great if the US Mint would once again offer limited run products containing special issue coins.
