On to the links…
The United States Mint has posted coin production figures through September 2009. The update includes the final mintage for the 2009 U.S. Virgin Islands Quarter.
Separately, the official launch ceremony for the Virgin Islands Quarter will take place on October 9 on the island of St. Thomas.

Small sized dollar coins including Susan B. Anthony Dollars, Sacagawea Dollars, and Presidential Dollars.
News of a very deceptive counterfeit coin that recently surfaced. The coin was a composite of two halves of genuine coins placed within a fake PCGS holder, which hid the edge of the coin where the halves were joined.

Two professors have created a mathematical model to determine population growth and decline based on coin hoard data. Large numbers of hoards are believed to represent periods of instability and population decline. Their data could solve a long standing debate about the Roman population.
An artist has minted 1,200 copper coins modeled after Hard Times Tokens. He has been leaving them on the ground in random locations.

And now for some notable auctions. First, an auction for 42 Sealed State Quarter Two Roll Sets. This includes all states from New Hampshire to Hawaii.
A stunning Proof 1859 Seated Liberty Dollar. It’s graded NGC PF 66 Ultra Cameo!
Last, a 1990 Proof Set which contains the very rare 1990 “No S” Proof Lincoln Cent.
That’s it for today. We’ll be back soon with another update!
